This page explains some of the best ways you can collect Avios.
After you have set up your Avios account at Avios.com, you can begin collecting.
You can collect them in many different ways, from using loyalty cards and specific bank cards, to online shopping.
Collect Avios Points with Tesco
This is the probably the easiest way to start collecting. You can earn Avios points with your Tesco Clubcard – it really should be the first thing to consider.
Simply use your Tesco Clubcard to build up Clubcard points, then convert these to Avios.
The current rate is 600 Avios for a £2.50 Tesco Clubcard vouchers. This equates to 2400 Avios for £10.00 worth of Clubcard points.
Collect Avios Points at Shell Garages
You can get Avios at Shell through the Shell Drivers’ Club scheme. To collect this way, you initially register for a Shell Drivers’ Club Card. You can find these cards at Shell service stations or you can register online.
You should opt in for Avios when you register and you will receive an opt-in bonus for doing so. This bonus is currently worth 50 Avios. Then you simply use your Shell Drivers’ Club Card whenever you buy fuel at a Shell garage.
This scheme will earn you 10 Avios for every 20 litres of normal fuel. Or 20 Avios for 20 litres, if you use Shell’s V-Power Nitro+ performance fuel.
It should also be noted that each litre of fuel you buy goes towards your Shell Drivers’ Club total, so you don’t have to buy 20 litres each time. (Amounts correct March 2015)
Collect Avios Points on Flights
You can also earn Avios when you fly with British Airways, Flybe or Iberia. You receive a set amount of Avios based on either each mile that you travel, or how much your ticket costs.
Avios Credit Cards
There are six Avios credit card accounts offered by Lloyds Bank and TSB. These cards allow you to earn Avios points whenever you use them for your credit card purchases.
The first two credit card accounts are from Lloyds Bank and are called the Avios Rewards Credit Card, and the Premier Avios Rewards Credit Card. (Cards correct – March 2015).
The second Avios credit card is offered by TSB. This card is called the TSB Avios Credit Card and it also comes in two versions.
It is important to note that you cannot earn Avios by making cash withdrawals or money transfers etc, it has to be money spent.
